Since its founding in 1977, the Labrador West Status of Women’s Centre (LWSWC) has been a steadfast ally for women in Labrador. In a mining town where the workforce and community life have traditionally been male-dominated, we recognized early on the challenges women faced in accessing education, skills development, and opportunities for community involvement. Our commitment to supporting and empowering women in Labrador West has only grown stronger over the years.

Since its inception, the Labrador West Status of Women has been dedicated to enhancing access to essential services for women and gender-diverse individuals in our community. Living in a small, rural area presents unique challenges when it comes to accessing critical services, and we understand how these obstacles can affect the well-being of individuals.
